Annual memberships allow us to continue our work over the winter, give us financial stability to develop programs to promote 1356 and Missoula’s railroad history, and help us maintain the engine for years to come. Memberships start at $25 through $200 and include our 2026 calendar of Ron V. Nixon photos, Mitch Dahl’s great photographic work, and historic Missoula photos. Friends of the 1356 is a Montana based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, whose mission is to support the cosmetic restoration and preservation of Northern Pacific Railway steam engine 1356, its history and stories in the Missoula community.
